This intense one day workshop is for all budding horror writers of all levels.
Designed to get you thinking about what makes a story ‘horror’, structuring your tale, how to leave an impression in the reader, and what not to do.
Come armed with your best creepy, disturbing and haunting ideas.
Participants will create a stand-alone short story and share and critique their work in the session.

Are you drawn to the macabre, all things spooky and haunting? Do you want to put your fears on paper? Then this might be the course for you.
Over five weeks join film and cultural historian Robert JE Simpson for a creative journey through the annals of horror, designed to heighten your appreciation for the genre while encouraging you to write your own horror fictions.
We’ll explore key horror texts and themes, with an emphasis on horror cinema, how horror is marketed, and what makes a horror story work.
This course includes optional extra participation via Discord.

Everyone has a story in them. Let me help you tell yours.
5 weekly workshop sessions held via Zoom video chat, in which we explore creativity. Looking at inspirations and techniques for writing stories, and hands-on exercises. We'll help you find your way through the narrative forest, and beat writers block. Sessions involve group discussion, mentoring, and feedback alongside dedicated writing time. Suitable for anyone actively trying to write fiction, from short form to novels.
Each mini-term is made up of five sessions
The workshops are aimed at fiction writers, but would also suit auto-fiction, memoir and other narrative prose based forms.
Classes are designed for those unable to attend my in-person events - however, if you're already signed up for an in-person series and are interested in attending this too, please message me for suitability.
